Doomscrolling
032c Gallery is pleased to present “doomscrolling,” a group exhibition with works by Angélique Aubrit & Ludovic Beillard, Pietro D'Azzo, Cameron Patricia Downey, Jason Gringler, Iida Jonsson & Ssi Saarinen, and Kev Koko, on view until April 29.
Doomscrolling is the act of continuously scrolling through large quantities of news and social media content, particularly with a negative narrative. The exhibition is not only interested in endless gloomy scrolling, but the general state of a compulsive consumption of images, no longer being able to distinguish between a “good” and “bad” image. “Doomscrolling” explores in what ways the meaning of an image is no longer defined through its actual content, but through the context it is embedded in.
