BREAKING: ADIDAS AND 032c LAUNCH TWO NEW SILHOUETTES

Earlier this month the Berlin-based media and fashion brand 032c launched their Spring/Summer 2021 032c READYTOWEAR collection: “SYSTÈME DE LA MODE.” Seeking to challenge conventions of use and design, this latest season from 032c READYTOWEAR proposes a linguistics of clothing, considering fashion as language and garments as signs, with each piece carrying multiple meanings. Expanding on concepts of adaptability and environmental awareness, the garments are not only multifunctional but also respond directly to their surroundings, thanks to new advancements in material technology including UV and heat sensitive prints, chameleonic fabrics, and reflective and luminescent features. Adding to SYSTÈME DE LA MODE and the two labels’ ongoing collaborative partnership, adidas and 032c introduce two new silhouettes: the 032c GSG TR sneaker and the 032c GSG Mule.

“Our Spring/Summer collection is about multiple meanings and functions,” says 032c READYTOWEAR creative director Maria Koch, whose latest take on the legacy of adidas is a material investigation with an almost scientific approach. “We have already taken adidas into our studio and workshop to add layers of interpretation to its most classic shoes,” says the designer. “This time, it is as though we took them into a laboratory.”

“The GSG-9 has always been one of my favorite adidas designs – which is why we started our collaboration with a minimal intervention on the shoe three years ago,” says 032c founder and Editor in Chief Joerg Koch. “It’s also why we are concluding this cycle with a complete deconstruction of the GSG-9, creating two new silhouettes based on its iconic sole.”

The 032c GSG TR is a mid-cut runner boasting reflective 3M™ details, a drawstring closure, and 032c branding on the heel and tongue. Featuring a specially crafted neoprene upper with synthetic overlays, the progressive silhouette is available in two distinct, eye-catching colorways: stone green/dove grey with neon hits and, exclusive to 032c and adidas, hi-res yellow/pulse lemon with black hits.

Meanwhile, the 032c GSG Mule is a playful take on an under-celebrated adidas archival look. Featuring a neoprene upper combined with a solid rubber outsole, the military-inspired mule is rounded out with a toggle closure, co-branded heel details, and adidas 3-stripes branding on the lateral. The silhouette is available in two unique colorways: savannah/chalk white with neon hits and monochrome core black on core black.
