Bring Your Favorite Wade Guyton Artwork into Animal Crossing with MARC GOEHRING
032c fashion director MARC GOEHRING has created an island on ANIMAL CROSSING, and he’s importing some of his favorite art – namely, a Wade Guyton originally exhibited at Galerie Chantal Crousel in Paris last year. In order to make the work a part of his sculpture garden, he “hand-pixelated” the work – a digital collage referencing an “XVideos.com” video called “Gay sailors enjoy piece of navy cakes” – breaking it down into 56 squares and reassembling them into eight rows of seven pieces each. Then, he created a QR code using his iPhone and uploaded it to his NookPhone, imported it into Animal Crossing and putting the artwork together one block at a time. Goehring reckons that the process took him about five hours to complete the picture, which is now the centerpiece in his cherry-blossom filled outdoor sculpture park. Several works by Guyton now populate his indoor gallery as well. See the process – and the result – below.
Where it all began: Marc falls in love with Guyton’s work at Galerie Chantal Crousel back in 2019.
It’s going to be a long night.
But the heart wants what the heart wants.🌹
Only a few more squares to go…
Preparing the QR code.
Installing the Guyton outdoors, pixel by pixel.
Pictured here in his gallery at home, Marc wears a custom “Comme des Garçons” dress and hockey mask.
Ta-Da!
